Manning your own ship can be a hard task, but doing it well is perhaps the most satisfying thing you could ever do. What are you good at? Capitalize on that. If you see a gap in the market (a lack of restaurants in a busy area, for example) you should seize on that to accommodate the needs of the public.
Not everyone has to own their own business, but doing so is a very American way to build money and success if you are a hardworking individual. Look at the Waltons, for instance, who built Walmart from the ground up; they’re now one of the richest families in the world. And they have a fancy pants art museum in their town, not bad!
